10 Ways To Make Football Season Fun For Women Who Hate Football

By admin

It’s football season… yay! I know there are a lot of women who are just as much into the sport as their husbands, I happen to be one of them. In fact, sometimes I am the one that is jumping up and telling the revs off. What can I say? You know how competitive I am!

But not all wives are thrilled when football season rolls around, and you’re left feeling like a “football widow”. No more weekend adventures together outside of the house…  you’re desserted and have to vend for yourself while your husband plants his tush in his favorite chair, has a beer in one hand, and a bag of chips in his lap.

Little side story: Dan went to Clemson, and I accidently made the mistake of having our wedding on a weekend Clemson was playing, during the game. Oops. Our friends still won’t let me live it down. Good thing they like me :)

Anywho… I thought it was be fun to let football be about the ladies today for Top 10 Thursday!

But before I get started… can you guess what teams I cheer for?

Top 10 Things To Do During Football Games
(If You’re Not A Football Fan)

Be A Pin Up Model.

Dan gets annoyed with me if I spend tons of time on pinterest, and normally I can understand why. But while his eyes are glued to the screen there is nothing to stop you from pinning projects and recipes that you probably won’t look at again, or is that just me? I have fun browsing though, and if you’re not following me on Pinterest check my boards out!

Touch Down Dance Off.

Make it interesting for both of you. Each time a team scores a touch down, get up and have a celebratory dance off. Who can have the best touch down dance in the family? Sounds like fun just picturing it! The better your team does the more fun to be had by all. Who knows, see if you can get your hubs to do the worm across the floor!

Just make sure the follow the next tip to get him loosened up on the dance floor!

Here is some inspiration and ideas:

Have No Fear For Beer.

If your guy complained every time you watched The Housewives; or checked E! for news, you would be fighting a lot. Realize his passion for the sport, and surprise him with a pack of his favorite beers!

Or make it fun and go to a local store where you can put together your own 6-pack of different varieties and have fun doing a beer tasting together throughout the game.

He gets uninterrupted game time, you get tipsy so the game goes by faster… it’s a win-win.

Girl time.

This could be the best excuse ever to leave the kids behind with him, after all he’s not going anywhere, and hang out with your girlfriends. Even better, get all the husbands at one place, drop all the kids there, and then go out. Enjoy yourself, guilt-free and have an extra cocktail (or two).

Annoy the crap out of him.

What is it about us women, We enjoy hassling our husbands from time to time. We know how far we can go and damn it, we like going there. Start watching the game, and ask every single football question you can think of. Ask about calls… what does that hand sign mean? Why are they the ____’s (mascot)? Why does that guy have all those stickers on his helmet? Why the heck does he have dreads, is that even safe? How far is a 1st down? How many points do you get when you kick it for a field goal? HAHAHA, I am having fun just imagining.

Compromise With Dates.

For ever 2 days he spends watching games, he’s required to take you out for a date. Sounds plenty fair to me. And going to the local Apple-bee’s isn’t going to cut it (unless you two really love Apple-bees). You might get more dates out than you expect.

Fantasy Football To A New Level.

See if you have what it takes to take his attention off the game.

Perhaps you can make a stop by a lingerie store, pick up something special in his team’s colors and surprise him when suddenly you sit on the couch, showing off team pride! Think he’ll be able to stay focused on the game! Unlikely.

The power of a woman is strong, don’t forget that.

Practice Healthy Meals.

He’s on the couch or in his chair focused on the game. Of course he wants munchies and he doesn’t care what kind.

This is the perfect time to slip him foods he might otherwise object to. I know some guys that refuse to eat turkey burgers… great time to give them a go. When he is scarfing them down with his beer, and cheering at the television, take a picture.

That way when you go to make them at a later day you can remind him how much he enjoyed the healthy version!

Get your workout in.

Of course I couldn’t neglect this, I haven’t forgotten this is a healthy living blog! Get outside, go for a run/walk/bike ride or do a workout with me at Fit Womens Weekly. We all need some alone time, use it to your advantage.

After the game, he’ll complain he feels gross from the beers and snacks… you’ll feel amazing and energized!

So there you have it, your plan for the next few months!

  • Are you a football widow, or do you LOVE the sport?
