100 lb Woman Shows There Is Nothing A Woman Can’t Do
By admin
So, I REALLY want to be on American Ninja Warrior!
I mentioned a few weeks ago that my friend Jeanette introduced me to the show, shocked that I hadn’t heard of it already.
At the end of our workout she looked at me and reiterated how much I would like the show and likely become obsessed with it…
Well, since I don’t have a television it couldn’t suck me in too much, but I did spend far too long watching YouTube videos and thinking to myself…
“Wow, this is awesome. I want to do this! How can I!?”
During that first Youtube marathon, I stumbled upon Kacy Catanzaro… she got me even more pumped up and excited.
How about we start the week off with a little motivation?
A 100 lb Woman Shows There Is No Stopping A Strong Woman
Kacy Catanzaro has been rocking the social media world since becoming the first female to qualify for the ultimate obstacle event of America Ninja Warrior, Mt Midoriyama.
I’ve personally spent for too much time watching her youtube channel to watch her training, strength and overall “wow affect” she possesses (no one can deny this girl is amazing).
Yes?
Kacy shows that using the excuse “I’m a woman” to cut yourself short, isn’t valid… we are all so much more capable than we give ourselves credit for.
She was doing obstacles that were clearly not intended for a woman with a 5 foot wing span, as she was having to jump from station to station while the men were able to easily reach and grab.
Thank you Kacy. Any woman who is not motivated by your strength, go gettem attitude, and drive may need to be checked out.
(And for those Kacy fans, I am working on getting her scheduled for a podcast interview!).
I’m sure that other contestants originally saw Kacy as an underdog. What was this tiny WOMAN thinking trying to compete against amazing men?
Did she show them.
Proud To Be A Woman Today
That got me thinking about women in general. For our entire existence women have been “underdogs” in the society.
I know there is still a lot of room for us, and we have not reached our equal status even today…
But we’re getting there.
Yes, the glass ceiling is still there. If a man earns $ 49,398 per year, a woman with the same position will make around $ 37,781. That’s over $ 10,000.
Does that piss you off? It does me. It’s something I have been passionate about for years, trust me, I can get on a soap box.
But today I don’t want to talk about what we still need to accomplish.
Today, I want to talk about how far we’ve come. Considering that women have only had a major roll in the work force for less than a century, maybe, just maybe, we are progressing pretty well?
At least we are progressing!
Let’s look at how amazing we’ve come within just the last 100 years!
The Power Of Women Over The Past 100 Years
Congressed passed the bill to allow women to vote. One small step for congress, one giant step for women! Hard to believe we haven’t been voting for at least 100 years, right?
The year women were granted the right to purchase birth control pills, allowing them to control their bodies and family planning.
The first Olympics with women’s marathon! Women had not been allowed to run marathon distances until the 70s because it was thought to be too much for our delicate bodies.
It wasn’t until the Equal Credit Opportunity Act in 1974 that women were allowed to apply for a credit card without being discriminated against. 40 years ago! Best decision ever, since 65% of women are in charge of finances in families (source).
Women could legally be fired from a job for being pregnant. Nothing like throwing a pour women to the curb just as her family is growing.
No wonder that many women even today feels as if they need to hide their pregnancy from their employers for as long as possible.
The first year that ladies were able to box in the Olympics.
Woman have come such a long way, physically and socially, and we still have so much more to accomplish.
But it’s women like Kacy and all the strong women before us that prove that we are a force to be reckoned with.
We aren’t weak, we don’t need the help of a man, and we have the right to want to go after anything we want.
Nothing should stand in our way.
I Love You, But I Don’t Need You
I’ve told Dan from day 1, I love him but I don’t need him.
Of course, if I lost him my life would feel empty and my heart broken…
But life would go on.
I would be able to fend for myself and I honestly think that I could push forward to grow. I would be able to take care of myself.
I think that’s a terribly place to be, when our other half becomes that… our other half. I am a whole person, I just have a pretty sexy side kick (and vice versa)!
Big Things Come In Small Packages
