Andaman News TV11 (VHF dial) 8.30am + maybe FM90.5 Radio Thailand 6pm, both broadcast to Phang Nga, Krabi & Phuket provinces, FM108 Mazz Radio 7.30pm in Phuket & Phuket Cable TV Channel 1 at 7, 10.30 or 11pm, Monday 3 December 2007 & news.prd.go.th On Sunday 2 December, starting at 7am which was earlier than previous races, approximately 740 tri-athletes, including 22 professional athletes from overseas, together with 60 Corporate Challenge Relay teams, began the 14th Laguna Phuket Triathlon presented by Thai Airways, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Herbal Life for the relay. Some even jumped the gun, officially started by the Vice Governor of Phuket, such was their eagerness to get underway, into the new swim course of 1180 metres in the warm sea, then a 620m swim across the cooler lagoon, where the early leaders were an Italian and a Canadian not far behind. Then they transferred to bikes for a 55 kilometre route up to the airport and then down the main Thepkrasatri road, where we saw 4 leading riders from Germany, Italy, & Australia whizzing past. Many riders followed at full speed, as the roads were cleared by police and assisted by many volunteers at water stations.
