Love Life & Blank: Creating A Life You Love

By admin

Almost exactly 8 years ago, I was a young college graduate with dreams of becoming a doctor.

Why? Because that’s what I thought I had to do to be successful.

Isn’t that what we’re taught? You go to school… get a “real” job… get married… have kids… retire… It’s the cycle that has been drilled into our heads over and over and over again.

When it comes to getting a job, it isn’t about finding a job that makes us happy, it’s about finding a job that pays the bills.

If it were about being happy, then more than 13% of people would enjoy going to work

Lucky for me, I have a husband that likes to think outside the box and encourages me to do the same. If not for Dan, I likely would be with the other 87% of unhappy employees, starting Monday morning already counting down the days until Friday at 5pm.

But I am one of the lucky few, I am one of the lucky 13% that wakes up each day excited to invest my time in work. After all, we have to work 40+ hours a week, it takes up the bulk of our time. So shouldn’t it be something we love?

I thought so which is why I turned my hobby into a profession.

And I am not alone…

Today I have a very special guest on the podcast. Christine is a fellow blogger for LoveLifeSurf and just recently began taking steps to doing the same. She decided that life is too short to not love what you do each and every day, so she turned her passion of yoga into a career.

So what if she has kids, and had a set plan? She needed something else and decided that life is too short!

How To Turn Your Hobby Into A Career

We live in a time unlike that of our parents and especially our grandparents. The tech world has opened so many doors and opportunities for us. We have the ability to literally do what ever it is we want.

If your dream profession doesn’t exist, then make it up. Create the profession!

Christine shares her drive and you can get a full sense of her passion for yoga and balancing life. She shares that while life can be tough, and we often find ourselves just going through the motions, it is possible to change and find a sense of belonging.

Her biggest tips?

–> For those of you wanting to change things up, have support. There are going to be days when you want to give up and you question what you’re made of. That support system is going to be key.

–> Make small, manageable goals. That’s great if you know you want to own our own yoga studio (or whatever) but plan it out. It can be extremely overwhelming to start with just the big picture in mind. Map it out, and follow the steps. As you do, you may find other paths that fuel you.

Listen in to the podcast to hear Christine’s full story on her road to become a yoga teacher. The whys, the hows, and the what nows are all shared! No rock left unturned! Her story may just help you to think outside the box!

Get hooked up with Christine and say hey!
