Be A Dragon And Torch Your Enemy: Tips On Burning Body Fat

I love this picture! I took it while walking around the central harbor of Baltimore. These are by far the best paddle boats I have ever seen.
What is it about dragons that everyone loves?
While Puff is quite magical and we all love him, Dragons are bad asses! I think we can all remember being terrified of the queen’s dragon Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty?
That thing scared the “you know what” out of me as a little 5 year old!
What can we learn from dragons? When all else fails, blow fire! And by blowing fire, I mean torch your body fat.
If you’re stuck in a plateau right now, or if you just don’t know where to start… follow these fire breathing tips to increase your fat burning results.
The Dragon Method: How To Burn Serious Body Fat
Diets hurt more than help. Did you know that over 90% of women will gain weight back after a diet?
That’s because “diets” are short term. You dratically cut calories which then makes your body think you are starving. To cope, your body slows down your metabolism, burns off lean muscle and of course you lose lots of water weight. When you start eating again, the weight comes back on because of the damage done to your lean muscle mass. Instead make smarter diet choices. If you drink soda, cut it out. Stop eating fried foods, processed junk and other foods you know are bad. Look at your diet as a lifestyle not a quick fix way to drop pounds.
Recognize weaknesses. I hear it all the time… “I know I need to workout more.” or “I know I eat poorly.” Well then stop. Make the promise to yourself to stop with the excuses, recognize your flaws and move on to improve. It doesn’t happen overnight. If you know your workouts are subpar, then plan on having 2 killer workouts this week. If you know you should stop eating Taco Bell at lunch, then cut back to just 1 day a week. Small changes = big results.
Avoid relying on fads. Just because Dr. Oz says something is awesome doesn’t mean that’s all you need to find fat burning success. Don’t fall for the hype of a new supplement like Raspberry Ketones and think they hav the sole power alone to transform your body. Do the research. It might help, but fundamentals are where success truly lies.
Go faster. The faster you move, the more calories you burn. There used to be this idea that walking a mile is the same as running a mile. We now know that’s not true at all. Take shorter rests between exercises, move just a little bit faster, and really make yourself “work”out.
Opt for support. Humans are social creatures. We like camaraderie and support. Doing something by yourself can feel lonely and lead to short lived efforts. Find a friend, spouse or community to help keep you accountable. If no one knows what you’re trying to accomplish, what’s to keep you going? It’s too easy to give up. Find a support system asap, there are LOTS of people like you, wanting to help and get helped in return.
Research shows that people with support burn more calories during workouts, workout more intense, make wiser food choices, lose weight faster, and keep it off longer. Sweet!
Never settle. If you’ve been doing the same format of exercise, it’s time for something new. Try new exercises, add more weight if you’re strength training, add intervals to your workout, try a new class at the gym. Whatever, just do something new. This will challenge your body in ways it’s not used to so that you get that extra spark to burn off the fat and tone the muscles.
Get it DRAGON… hehe. I was proud of myself
One more famous dragon to end on:
Come back in a bit, I have a huge surprise/challenge up my sleeves that you won’t want to miss.
- Who’s your favorite famous dragon?
- What is one of your weaknesses?
Clearly, I love Puff (not like you think). I was upset when I became an adult and learned the true meaning of him though.
My weakness… lattes. I am going to be giving them up, but there is more behind that story soon to come!
