Join The 3000 Squat Contest + 9 Miles In New Kicks

Happy Sunday! My morning started off perfectly with fresh baked Thanksgiving bread.

Thanksgiving bread? Never heard of it? I made it up yesterday while playing around in the kitchen. It includes all of my favorite flavors of the month: cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, cranberries and even sweet potatoes. Oh and it’s gluten-free, vegan, packed with gut healthy fiber, and has NO sugar added in. It’s delicious.

Topped with a dollop of almond butter and this was the perfect Sunday morning treat along side a steaming cup of coffee.

I’ll post the recipe later today on the Facebook page, if you don’t like the page already make sure you do so you can get it!

In other news, I love challenges. If you’ve been reading Lifting Revolution for a while perhaps you’ve noticed? Having a challenge makes hitting goals more fun and more attainable, at least for me and Dan.

Last week he started a 30 day squat challenge and I immediately jumped right in. Then I asked our boot campers to join in, and they did as well…

And now I’m inviting you!

The 30 Day Holiday Booty Squat Challenge

squat challenge

Every day for the next 30-days (taking you to Christmas Eve), I am challenging you to do 100 squats.

What can that do your for booty, legs, and body? Well, that’s the fun of the challenge!

Squats can be bodyweight or weighted (I am doing them all with my kettlebell) and broken up however you wish throughout the day.

The goal is to do them and to do them properly. Focus on form, mobility and the muscles working.

Why are we doing this? Because it’s fun, adds in a little extra “oomph” for our fitness day and helps to have a goal during this time of the year.

It might be hard to fit in a solid 60 minute workout during the holidays, but I’m pretty sure everyone can fit in 100 squats throughout their day.
Am I right?

What’s in it for you?

The Prize Package

We all love prizes right? Anyone that completes all 30 days will be entered to win a fun grand prize with a few of my favorite goodies included.

But you have to be honest with yourself, you have to post updates on the Facebook page, and you have to take credit for your work!

I don’t know you’ve done it unless you’ve told me!

How To Enter?

And that’s it. Each week, I’ll send out reminders and tips to keep going. I’ll also ask for regular updates!! And no you can’t wait until the week before and decide to do 500 squats every day to make up for the past few weeks.

Are you in!?

My New Kicks: Mizuno Wave Rider 17s

The following blog post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Mizuno.

Last week a received the new Mizuno Wave Rider 17s, it was as if Santa decided to come early.

I’ve been wearing Mizunos consistently for over 2 years, they really are the only road running shoe I’ll slide my foot into for running anything over 3 miles (I say road shoes, because I just ordered a new trail shoe). They just “get me” and my body I guess.

After my last half marathon Dan made the comment that the bottoms were looking a bit worn.  I went back through my running journal and realized I had logged over 400 miles in them (yes I log each mile)….

So to say I was extremely grateful to receive these shoes is an understatement!

Wave Riders are Mizuno’s neutral running shoe, and over the past year I’ve gone through the past 3-models (the 15s, 16s, and now 17s). The 15s were by far my favorite, I felt that they had changed something up in their 16s, and was hoping that the 17s would be a back track to the 15s…

They are.

Extremely light, stable, and comfortble I am in love. The heel feels a bit more “sturdy” than the previous model (which I wore in my half) so they took some getting used to at first. They are also a little lighter. In fact, when I picked up the box off our front porch, I was doubtful there was a pair of shoes inside! I made Dan pick it up too, the whole time saying “feel how light these are!”. He wasn’t as amazed.

Yesterday was my first official run, I had 9 miles on the schedule and knocked them out with no problem. It’s always a bit scary when you change things up!

These shoes aren’t available until Dec. 5th, but if you know someone that is a Mizuno wearer then they will make a great gift!

But never buy shoes for someone else unless you know the brand they prefer. Runners are very brand loyal and we like what we like. For example, I LOVE Mizunos, wouldn’t trade them for anything… Dan on the other hand, hated the ones I bought him so much so that we had to go out the next day and buy a different brand all together.

It’s like food, everyone’s taste buds are different.

If you’re thinking about changing things up I highly recommend going to a local running store and getting properly fit before just pulling the trigger and ordering a pair of shoes that “look cool”.

As for these, I LOVE them!

*While I received the Mizunos on behalf of my partnership with Fitfluential LLC, all thoughts and opinions are my own

Are you brand loyal to fitness shoes/clothes?
