Answer Revealed: The Purpose Of Life
By admin
What is the purpose of life?
It’s a deep question. And one I am sure we have all thought about at some point in our lives.
But have you come up with a solid answer? Is there just one answer?
And even more important… are you living your life in a way that reflects your sense of life’s purpose?
Personally, I am and I’m not.
You see, this weekend Dan and I watched one of my all time favorite movies, The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.
I liked it a lot when I saw it in the theater, but I loved it the second time.
Another thing I can promise, is that by the end you’ll think about life. Life in general and your own life. You’ll think (with a huge smile on your face) about what the purpose of life is.
The Purpose Of Life
I am not a deep philosophical person. I wish I were. I did take a philosophy class in college! Unfortunately, it was the most boring class of my 4-year college experience. But stay with me on this…
Today I thought it would be fun to share what I see the purpose of life being. And I would love your thoughts as well. I am sure we all have different views/opinions.
According to the move, the purpose of life:
“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”
Basically, the purpose of life is to live.
What Does It Really Mean To Live?
Does it mean to wake up at the same time every day, to go to the same job that you loathe, the live safely by the rules? Or does it mean to take the road that isn’t always the most traveled and to not always know what lays ahead?
Here’s my top 5 purpose list, my answers (because there isn’t just one).
– The purpose of life is to live consciously with a purpose of your own. To not get wrapped up in the robotic world that is so easy to settle for. It’s okay to be spontaneous.
– The purpose of life is to love, with all of your heart. And I don’t mean just your spouse, your kids, your parents… show love every day. Smile at strangers, give a compliment to your co-worker, tell your friends that they are appreciated.
And when you do say those three words, make sure you say them with real emotion. It’s far too simple to to say “I love you” out of habit as you walk out to door each morning or when the lights go out at night. Say them with honest emotion.
To love also means to love yourself. We are always a constant piece of work, but love what is in front of you and embrace the changes as you grow. Forget what size you are, what you like and don’t like about yourself and just LOVE yourself unconditionally.
– The purpose of life is to explore. Think about all the world has to offer: all the sites, cultures, diversity of people. If we weren’t meant to explore then why are we not all the same? Why doesn’t the earth look the same whether you’re in Denver or China?
– The purpose of life is to be you. Not the you that you think people expect. But the real you, no matter how “different” you are, or the shape of your body… you are perfect. Trust me, we’re all closet freaks trying to hide our freak flag.
But you know what? Let that flag sore. By being the real you, you’re going to find the purpose of life so much easier!
And finally…
– The purpose of life is to life with as little regret as possible. The past is in the past. We can’t go back, we can’t change it. Instead of trying to, move forward and imagine all that has yet to happen.
When you live in the present, and recognize (don’t forget) what happened in the past, your future is much more promising and bright. The sky is the limit.
Why I’m Not 100% Living With Purpose
Costa Rica – The trip we say we’ll take every year but haven’t.
As soon as the credits started to roll, Dan and I talked about everything above. Then, we agreed that we’re not living life with true purpose.
Yes, I am a passionate person, I love deeply. Yes, I have gone of the beaten path, the “safe” path that I had imagined about in college. I chose something different. Yes, I am okay with flying my freak flag. I am finally comfortable being me.
But…
We have been working hard, very hard for most of our relationship to build a business. Every single year we say: “This is the year we’re going to make more time for travel; this is the year we’re going to rest more; this is the year that our live changes.”
We’re so busy working that each year we make bigger goals so that none of the above happens. Why? Why don’t we take our dream trips? Why don’t we relax more? What is going to happen if we don’t? Will the world fall apart around us?
NO, life will go on if we take time to travel and relax.
If something were to happen to me tomorrow, this would be my greatest regret. I still have so much on my to-do list I want to do and see. It’s time to stop living with fear and start focusing attention on not just the job front or the money front.
To live life means to live outside of our job titles. I am not just a personal trainer or a business owner.
So to help us live with purpose, we’ve got one very important step to take: get passports! Mine expired when I got married and Dan hasn’t ever had one.
It’s time to live life.
What about you…
What do you think the purpose of life is?
