Dear Body, This Is Why I Love You {April Challenge}

By admin

This past weekend I accomplished something that I wasn’t sure about. I didn’t know if my body was going to be able to carry me for 24.14 miles. There were several times when I thought for sure I was done, my body was spent, and I had pushed it far too hard.

But in the end, it persevered and showed me just what it was able to do. My body believed in me even when I didn’t believe in it. Through the pain, it kept going and showed me just how much it loved me.

For that it deserves this. And I am going to say that yours does as well. Our bodies all deserve to be respected and reminded of how much they mean to us. Because let’s face, we’re not always kind. We don’t always say the right things, we don’t always listen to our bodies when it asks for rest, we tell it that it’s fat, bumpy, etc, and we often even avoid looking at it. Let’s not give our bodies the cold shoulder today, let’s dedicate the day to showing love and respect.

Let’s be a bit corny, because sometimes corny is exactly what the doctor personal trainer ordered.

self love

Dear Body,

I’m not always good with words. Sure, I could tell you what I am about to write but I am better at sharing my emotions and thoughts here. The words flow easily and I want to make sure that I tell you exactly what’s on my mind. That’s what you deserve.

For years, I have pushed you. I have starved you. I have called you names.  I have bullied you and questioned your abilities on several occasions. I have even gone so far as to talk to doctors about changing you.

But you know what?

You’ve continued to remain on my team. You have worked hard to prove me wrong and to prove to me that you are worthy of my love.

You are worthy of my love.

I am proud of you and your strength.

You have an amazing ability to break through walls and accomplish so much more than I ever dreamt possible. You are the vehicle that makes me who I am. So many people are unable to do what it is that you can do, and for that I am grateful.

Looking back at all the adventures that we’ve been through and all the times we have wanted to stop and throw in the towel but didn’t, brings tears to my eyes. Together with my will and your strength we have found the ability to finish what we started.

You might not be perfect… you might not have 6-pack abs, you may have a broken nose, a small chest and some spots of cellulite, but you know what?

You’re perfect for me.

I can’t promise that I’ll never be hard on you again, but I can promise that I love you. Sometimes we take those we love for granted and that’s what happens. Far too often. I am sorry about that, and yes I can guarantee there will be more times where I take you for granted. But know I love you.

I love…

  • Your endurance
  • Your strength
  • Your athleticism (I never thought I would be an athletic almost 30 year old)
  • Your blue eyes (my eyes tell every emotion)
  • Your curves
  • Your health – so many wish to just be able to get up each day and look at what we’re able to do? Blessed? Most definitely!

So body, I leave you with this:

Anytime you begin to feel mistreated or unloved come back to this letter. Read it and know that I do respect you and feel blessed that you’re my body. We are one. And I’ll do the same.

Sincerely,
Taylor

The April Challenge:

Are you ready for your April Challenge? First off who completed the March Challenge?? Let me know down below in the comments! I am going to make a special shout out post to all those that rock the challenges each month, sort of like an “Honor Roll” post.

The Corny Challenge

For this month, we’re going to continue to be a bit corny. Here’s what I want…

I want you to write yourself a letter like the one above. Then I want you to read it to yourself every day for the month of April.

I think it will be fun to see just how much of a confident booster and smile maker doing this challenge will be.

And for those of you who aren’t into the corny challenges and just love fitness ones…
