Destroying My Wedding Dress & Tips On Dealing With Food Pushers

By admin

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Ours was nice, a bit on the relaxing side but with a splash of productivity thrown in. Just the way I like it.

We spent yesterday getting some work done before heading to my parents’ house where they of course asked if I would “please” eat the clearly unvegan (clam chowder) meal they had sitting out.

Does this ever happen to you? It could be friends, spouse, parents, co-workers, etc. People that simply don’t get why you eat healthy and attempt to “push” you to eat foods that are clearly not what you want in your life.

They’re called Food Pushers and I am going to talk about how I deal with them in today’s episode.

I also want need your help today! The Color Me Rad is quickly approaching and I am still planning on running my my wedding dress to raise funds for the Special Olympics.

How To Deal With Food Pushers

1. Sit down and talk about why you’re making the changes to your diet: lose weight, feel better, health, etc. Then explain to them how important they are and how much you need their support. Making them feel like a part of your team will likely make them feel important and more likely to step up as a motivator.

2. Let them know your success won’t affect the relationship. This is especially true with a spouse. They may get worried that if you lose weight and tone up that you won’t find them attractive any more. Address their fears, this is when communication is important. Ask what their fears are and actually talk about them.

3. If your food pusher refuses to let go of their bad habits and keeps bringing destructive food into the house, then give them their own cabinet or drawer so that you don’t have to look at it each time you open the pantry. Compromising is vital.

4. Last resort, cut back on quality time with them. This is easier with friends and co-workers. If they don’t seem open to supporting you and stopping with their food pushing ways, then it’s time to take a step back. You don’t have to avoid them all together but limit the time and activities you do. Tell them you’ll go shopping with them but won’t go to happy hour. And spend more time with the friends who do share your passion for health or those that understand and have your back.

Do you have a food pusher in your life?

What is your food weakness?

My family is definitely my food pusher, though they have gotten better over the years. But my weakness is definitely a good chocolate chip cookie. Place one on a plate, and I can’t refuse it.

Blog Update

One last (but important) thing! VERY soon Lifting Revolution will undergo a large facelift. I mentioned it a while back but now we are so close to making the update happen. I can’t wait for you to see the new layout and changes to the blog. I am really impressed at what Dan and our web developer have put together and I know you’ll feel the same way!

So if you visit back and it looks nothing like it does today, you know it’s still me!
