Every Woman Should Read: Learning To Stand Up Against Abuse
By admin
Women are mean. Women are tough on one another, judgmental and quick to make assumptions.
But, women are also supportive and quick to lend a helping hand or a hug… even if it’s a “cyber hug”.
Today, we’re embracing the positives of womanhood… our sisterhood.
A few weeks ago, I had a guest blogger, Amanda, share her story of domestic abuse.
She recently left her husband after almost a decade of physical and emotional abuse. Of course it was hard but she knew staying wasn’t an option any longer… watching your husband threaten to shoot himself in front of you can really put things into perspective.
She is stronger than ever and living a life without battling day to day fear or rejection… Finally.
Because so many of you left comments on her story sharing similar stories or have friends going through similar events, I asked Amanda to be a guest on What The Fitness.
I knew it would be a deep conversation, but one that every woman should listen to (though perhaps not with the kids in the car).
- Amanda’s personal story… how her fabulous fiancé did a “Mr. Hyde” once the wedding ring was placed on his finger.
- The general progression of abuse: first being in control, then verbal abuse, then physical.
- Clues to know if someone close to you is in an abusive relationship.
- How you can help someone going through an abusive relationship.
- How you can help yourself if YOU’RE in a dangerous relationship.
But one thing can… if you are in an abusive relationship or you have a friend/family member going through something dangerous there is something that can be done.
In our sisterhood of being a woman, we support you and send out hugs hoping to give you strength and the confidence to know that life isn’t suppose to be like this.
Love is suppose to be kind, comfortable, and fearless.
If you’re in a healthy relationship, make sure to squeeze that person a little harder today and say thanks.
Thanks Amanda.
