Keele has a wide range of academic and social facilities for its students. There is a modern Library with books and on-line information as well as open-access PCs and rooms for group work for student use. Students can also access the internet from their study bedrooms, provided that they have their own PC or laptop. For the science subjects, there are new laboratory facilities and PC labs in the science blocks. The humanities and social science subjects are taught from modern lecture and classroom space, with the latest in electronic teaching aids. The new Claus Moser Research Centre provides a focal point for researchers and students in the social sciences. The University also makes extensive use of a ‘virtual learning environment’, with on-line and interactive learning resources for students. The Students’ Union building has eating places, a nightclub, a cafe bar, a shop and a Post Office. There is a wide range of eating places on campus: an American-style diner, a restaurant offering food from around the world, an excellent coffee bar and a range of places selling take-away food. The Comus Restaurant is open to students and staff all day and students can pre-pay for breakfast and evening meals through the Meal Plan. Halal food is available on request. The University has won national awards for the quality of its catering.
