Freestyle Women’s division – competitors can showcase their pole dance style complete with costuming and theatrics and perform without limitation on dance style or pole tricks. Broadcast on FOX Sport’s action sports channel, Fuel TV, the 2009 Australian Pole Dance Championships™ took competitive pole dancing into a professional, sporting realm. There are four divisions within the competition, and entry is open to include males, as well as opportunities to compete as mixed doubles. It is unique in the way that it recognises the fitness and circus styles of pole dance that have previously been overlooked in competitions. The Championships promotes pole dancing for fitness and aims to highlight the athletes of this sport in the same light as other professional sporting competitions. 2010 will see the Asia Pacific Pole Dance Championships™ held in Brisbane, Australia on 28th August.
