Quest For The Crest Week 7 Training Log!
By admin
What a week. I am so happy, no make that ecstatic to have this week behind me.
Some weeks are great, some just okay, and some, like this week, royally sucked. But I’m healthy, the sun is out and I made it through. Reason to celebrate and rejoice.
I guess life would be boring if it were all puppies and sunshine. But next week, I would like to request a little bit more of both. Fair? I think so!
Anyways, let’s talk 50K training.
For those of you interested in what I got myself into, here’s a trailer for The Quest For The Crest that the race director put up this week:
As for training, last week was awesome! A record mileage week (which will be the case from here on out) and every run was actually really strong.
Let’s recap…
- Monday: Strength Workout (kept it light)
- Tuesday: 4 miles with stadium workout with Dan & some kettlebells
- Wednesday: 8 miles <— I wasn’t sure I would fit them all, so it felt great to complete them!
- Thursday: 6 miles with 4 @ 10K pace (8 minute miles). + Kettlebell workout
- Friday: REST!
- Saturday: 18 Miles! It was SO humid but the run was strong. Proud of 9.04 pace. Gorgeous views of Charleston along the way definitely helped since I was solo.
- Sunday: 10 miles at the beach! My legs were tired and at times I tried to convince myself that it was okay to stop at just 6 miles. Than again at 8 miles. Somehow I made it! Dan snapped this awesome photo:
Total Miles: 46 Miles
Total Strength: 3
We ordered our emergency blankets this past week, which we’re required to have on us. Next up, whistles. Things are getting real folks.
The Battle With Food
To say my appetite hasn’t been affected would be a big fat lie! I’m hungry ALL the time.
I’m trying my best to keep fueling with nutrient rich meals and snacks. I’m also making sure to eat more than normal so I don’t lose weight.
With RKC next weekend, I have to make sure my muscle mass and strength is preserved which has definitely been the hardest part of all of this!
More on that later.
No matter how tough a week is, there is always good.
For me, it was receiving this text from Ashton early Wednesday morning. She knew just what I needed.
