On a lighter note… a national training camp for the martial art Taekwondo is now on in India’s central Bhopal city. It’s in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in China in November. The National Taekwondo Training Camp is underway in India’s central Bhopal city to train participants from across the country for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in China in November. Around 24 male and female Taekwondo players are attending the Tatya Tope Stadium camp, which started on Wednesday and runs until July 31. The camp provides training in physical fitness and technical aspects of Taekwondo. [Suresh Bhandari, Participant]: “The camp provides training for the upcoming Asian Games which will take place in November. Our main aim is to get maximum medals in Asian games and to make our country proud. We are having physical fitness session in morning, weight training in the afternoon and technical training classes in evening.” Since Taekwondo demands a lot of strength, the coaches are concentrating mainly on physical fitness. [Gautam S. Virdee, Head Coach]: “Taekwondo is a body weight category game and for every body weight, certain physical fitness is required. The fitness level should not exceed the requirement. If the weight will be high then the participant would be disqualified. So we need to serve the fitness criteria as per the requirement.
