The “Spiced Up” National Walking Day Workout
By admin
Happy Wednesday, did you know that today is National Walking Day?
I know that there is a “National ___ Day” for everything from “National Peanut Butter Day” to “National Dress Up Your Pet Day (January 14th), but this one is actually important and inspiring.
At several businesses around the US, employees are encouraged to wear walking shoes and take at least 30 minutes of their day to get up and walk. This is of course in an effort to promote healthier habits and fight off obesity.
With spring finally making an appearance, if you work in a safe area there is no better excuse to take in some vitamin D and get some extra exercise in.
You might already get the recommended 30 minutes of exercise per day, but I am still giving you this challenge to partake in the spirit of things. Because you know what? By getting up and walking or adding in a light jog, it might inspire the person beside you to do the same thing. Then they might go to inspire another one and before you know, look at what you caused… fitness!
Being a leader is part of living a fit and healthy lifestyle, and what better way to lead than the get your tush moving and inviting others to partake in the fun?
If you have to do some pursuing here are some benefits of walking:
Decrease bad cholesterol (LDL)
Decrease risk of diabetes
Increase mood
Decrease blood pressure
Manage stress
Burn calories
Walking by itself is a great way to start, but why not really make it fun and make it a total body mini-boot camp workout?
I mean, sure walking is important and the easiest way to get started with exercise but let’s not neglect strength training! The two can go hand in hand.
I am sharing this workout with you as a challenge…
I challenge you to complete it AND share it with someone else.
