The Simple How To Guide To Make Exercise GIFs

By admin

Originally I had an awesome leg workout to share with you today, but Dan has been working like a crazy man trying to create a new video for FitWomensWeekly and the Youtube show had to get pushed back.

Oh well, that’s what happens sometimes when it’s just two people running multiple businesses! Things can get busy.

But, that is just something to be excited about for next week, right? But have no fear, I have a pretty kick ass workout planned for this Friday too!

So today, we’re going to talk about one of the best things I’ve done in terms of adding content to my blog…

Making All My Exercises GIFs

I know that this might not pertain to you. If that’s the case, I promise to be back with an awesome post tomorrow that you will love!

But for those blogger and social media lovers…

As a blogger, I feel it’s my job to deliver information to you in the way that works best for YOU.

Everyone is different in the way they absorb information which is why I write text, film videos, record podcasts and make GIFs.

Plus, it’s fun to do a little bit of everything.

We started making GIFs of our exercises when we realized that not everyone wanted to watch an entire video to see how to do moves.

Or perhaps they watched the video but needed to quick refresher on the exercises before giving them a go.

What I didn’t expect was how much you, my awesome readers, would love them.

Not sure what I’m talking about?

Here are a few examples:

I can’t tell you how many comments and emails I have received since Dan and I started making them asking for a how to.

So, I’m sharing my secret today.

But the secret isn’t how to make a gif, the secret is that it’s so easy, peasy that no matter how tech dumb you are, you can do this. Trust me, if I can do this, anyone can. Dan is the computer guy, I just like to make workouts, recipes and talk fitness.

And I am assuming that if you’re a blogger you’ll start implementing this tactic into your own posts. <— You should!

If you’re not a blogger? It’s still fun to learn new tricks, and making gifs is the cool thing to do, right? Have fun getting creative!

How To Make An Exercise GIF

The video above breaks it all down for you, from start to finish. But I’ll break it down here too…

The 9 Step System To Create A GIF

  1. Import your clip into PhotoShop.
  2. Delete every other layer (click command to highlight multiples at a time).
  3. Go to WINDOW and make sure that the “Timeline” is showing on your screen.
  4. Scroll all the way to the end of the timeline, hold down shift to select them all. From here, drag them into the trashcan.
  5. In the upper right corner of the timeline, hit the little down arrow and select “Make Frames From Layers”
  6. Reselect ALL the layers, and set the time frame to what you would like. I use .15.
  7. Resize the image by going to IMAGE and clicking IMAGE SIZE… sizes between 300-400 work best.
  8. Click the Text Tool, make sure the first layer on the timeline is chosen and put your text where you want. Do not move it once you’re done.
  9. Save by going to Save For Web and making sure GIF is chosen.

The end!
