Top 5 Tasty Skinny Cocktails For The Holidays
By admin
Happy Thursday! I can’t believe how quickly this week is coming. We are officially kicking off the holiday party scene this weekend by having a few of our closest friends over for a “Friendship Festivis”.
Good food, good company, and of course great cocktails. Now that I have my new blender, I will be playing bartender this weekend to see just what this baby is capable of.
I know that drinking is something many of us can’t really avoid from now until January 1st, but there are better (and more fun) options out there than the typical eggnog and spiked hot chocolate.
Here are my top 5 favorite holiday cocktails!
Why just 5? Because these are so amazing that you won’t need any others to choose from.
- Champagne (Extra dry)
- 1/4 oz triple sec
- Splash of cranberry juice
Christmas is not Christmas without a champagne cocktail in our home. It’s been a tradition for years now. Mimosas are great but these are better. Less sugar, festive name and look how pretty it is!
Not to mention, did you know that Extra Dry Champagne has the least amount of sugar than wines? Score.

Mulled Wine (this makes a big batch)
- 1.5 L of dry red wine
- Zest 1 lemon
- Zest 1 orange
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tbsp gloves
- 1/2 tbsp ginger
- 1/2 tbsp nutmeg
- Stevia to taste
- orange slices or cinnamon sticks for garnish
- Pour your wine into a suacepan and cook on low heat, add zests. Place the spices into a tea satchel and place in the wine to simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add a few drops of stevia.
- Poor wine through a strainer and serve in heatproof classes. Garnish and drink.
This is perfect for fireplace relaxing! The flavors of winter all come together in this drink. It’s also a great idea to serve up after a dinner party in place of dessert wines.

Pomegranate Rosemary Martini
For the liquor drinkers out there (1 martini and I am out for the count). But this drink is gorgeous.
- 1 Shot vodka
- 1/4 cup pomegranate
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp pomegranate seeds
- 1 spear fresh rosemary
- ice
In a martini shaker, add everything except the seeds and rosemary.
Shake-shake-shake until chilled and pour into your martini glasses. Add the seeds and give a little stir with the rosemary spear. Serve it up.
Both rosemary and pomegranates offer up great nutritional benefits, so why not get an extra dose of happiness from your cocktail.

Cider And Whiskey Cocktail
I found this recipe in my new VitaMix cookbook (they leave out nothing)! It is too pretty to not share and a great sipper drink.
- 1/2 cup fresh apple cider
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- Ice
Add everything to a shaker and shake her up! Pour into martini glasses. Slice a small apple and add to the cocktail for a pretty wow factor.
Skinny Vegan Eggnog
Who said you had to skip it all together? Eggnog does rock and though I have never served it at a party, I have always wanted to. Now that I have Angels’s recipe, it might just have to happen.
- 1 large banana, peeled and frozen
- 1 can of full-fat coconut milk (400ml), chilled in fridge
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (about 1/4 of a fresh lemon)
- 1.5 cups almond milk
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1-3 tsp ground nutmeg (to taste, add gradually)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8th tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Cinnamon stick, for garnish
- 1/4 cup-1/2 cup Bourbon (optional), to taste
*Angela also calls for 1/2 large avocado, frozen. I would personally leave this out.
Just add it to a blender and blend. This makes 6 cups.

So there you have it! Plenty of cocktails to choose from that will leave you feeling extra cheery but not extra chubby! Now if you’ll excuse me, I am off to get my holiday cheer going (JK).
